Sri Lanka showcased its exceptional biodiversity, wildlife experiences, and nature tourism potential at the Global Birdfair 2026, held in Rutland, United Kingdom, from 10 to 12 July 2026.
The Sri Lanka Pavilion was inaugurated by the High Commissioner of Sri Lanka to the United Kingdom H.E. Nimal Senadheera, highlighting the country’s continued efforts to strengthen its presence in the global wildlife tourism sector and promote Sri Lanka as a premier destination for birdwatching.
The Global Birdfair, one of the world’s largest gatherings of the wildlife tourism community, brought together over 300 exhibitors, 45 tourism boards, travel professionals, tour operators, conservationists, and wildlife enthusiasts from across the world. Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau (SLTPB), in collaboration with the High Commission of Sri Lanka in the United Kingdom, participated at the event with Sri Lankan industry representatives, including hotels and travel agencies specialising in nature and wildlife tourism. Since Sri Lanka’s participation began in 2024, interest from the local tourism industry has continued to grow, with several companies seeking opportunities to represent Sri Lanka at this prestigious international platform.
The presence at the Global Birdfair 2026 enhanced Sri Lanka’s profile as a world-class nature tourism destination and supported efforts to attract the growing niche market of wildlife and birding travellers from the United Kingdom and beyond.
