Life / Residence Certificate for Pensioners Residing Abroad

All Sri Lankan pensioners residing abroad are kindly informed that the Life / Residence Certificate for each year must be submitted to the Department of Pensions, Sri Lanka, through this High Commission, in order to ensure the continued payment of pension. The completed certificate should be submitted on or before 31 March. Failure to do so may lead to the temporary suspension of pension payments

Submission of applications in person

Applicants are kindly requested to:

1.     Download the Life / Residence Certificate – 2026 application form : Click Here

2.     Complete the form and sign it in the presence of a consular officer at the High Commission.

3.     Bring the duly completed application form together with the following documents to the High Commission:

• Valid Passport

• Sri Lankan National Identity Card (if available)

4.     Where a new bank account has been opened for pension purposes, or where the pension is to be remitted to a foreign bank account, documentary proof should be produced to establish that the account belongs to the pensioner.

Important:

• The Life / Residence Certificate must be completed using the prescribed format.
• This service is given free of charge
• Pensioners who are unable to visit the High Commission in person due to ageing or sickness should submit their Life Certificates after being certified by a GP Practitioner.
• These certificates can be sent by the Post with a pre-paid self-addressed envelope to return the certified life certificate copy.
• After attestation by the High Commission, the original certificate will be forwarded directly to the Foreign Pension Branch, Department of Pensions, Sri Lanka, and a copy will be Provided to the pensioner for their reference.
• Pensioners may check the Life Certificate update status through the Department of Pensions online system (pensions.gov.lk).
