Consular Section – Important Information

The Consular Section of the High Commission of Sri Lanka is located at the following address:

• Opening hours for the public: Monday to Friday, 9.30 am to 2.30 pm (except on holidays observed by the High Commission).

• Prior appointment is NOT mandatory for the following services: Emergency Passports, Life Certificates for pension purposes (senior citizens), Visa applications, applications for birth/marriage/death extracts, Certification / Legalisation Documents and Death Registration. 

• We regret to inform that consular services cannot be provided to applicants who attend without a prior appointment for services that strictly require one. 

• All appointments must be booked online via the following link: https://hclappointments.embassyonline.lk/ 

• To avoid unnecessary delays, please ensure your application is fully completed before attending your appointment at the Consular Section. 

• All original documents must be submitted together with photocopies on single-sided A4-size paper. 

• Please note that translations are not accepted as a substitute for originals (Sri Lankan Birth/ Marriage/Death certificates) 

• An additional fee will be charged if photocopies are made at the High Commission.

• Accepted methods of payment: Cash, personal Debit/Credit cards, and Postal Orders.
  Please note: Co-operate Debit/Credit cards, Diners Club cards, and American Express cards are not accepted.
  Postal Orders must be made payable to the “Sri Lanka High Commission”
